The Range Rover Velar (L560) was introduced in 2017, filling the gap between the Evoque and the Range Rover Sport. Its name revives the original 1969 pre-production Range Rover prototype designation, and the Velar brings a distinctively minimalist, coupe-like design to the Range Rover family with flush door handles, a low roofline, and reduced panel gaps.

The Velar shares its aluminium-intensive D7u platform with the Jaguar F-Pace. Engine options include 2.0-litre Ingenium four-cylinder petrol and diesel units with mild-hybrid (MHEV) technology, a 3.0-litre inline-six with mild-hybrid, and previously a supercharged 3.0-litre V6. All models use a ZF 8-speed automatic transmission with either rear-wheel drive or full-time intelligent all-wheel drive featuring Terrain Response 2.

Inside, the Velar was the first Range Rover to feature the Touch Pro Duo infotainment system with twin 10-inch touchscreens, replacing nearly all physical buttons. The cabin emphasises clean surfaces and premium materials including optional textile seats made from recycled plastic. A comprehensive 2023 facelift brought a single curved 11.4-inch Pivi Pro touchscreen, new LED headlamps, and updated bumpers.

With a kerb weight of 1,804–2,065 kg and adaptive air suspension available across the range, the Velar offers a blend of on-road refinement and capable off-road ability that has made it one of the most design-led SUVs in its segment.
