The Daimler 2.5 V8 was a four-door saloon produced by the Daimler Company. The 2.5 V8 saloon was produced between 1962 and 1967 and the facelift V8-250 was built between 1967 and 1969. Initially called the Daimler 2.5 V8, it was to be later referred to simply as the Daimler V8-250. It featured a Daimler 2.5 V8 engine which was first used in the Daimler Dart SP250 sports car. It had the option of a four-speed manual gearbox with overdrive or a three speed automatic gearbox.

The Daimler 2.5 litre V8 engine was only 30 inches in length and gave better performance than the six cylinder Jaguar 2.4 litre XK engine used in the Jaguar Mark 2. Following Jaguar's acquisition of  the Daimler Company in 1960 an opportunity arose to create an up-market Daimler V8 version of the Jaguar Mark 2. Indeed the Daimler 2.5 V8 is basically a re-badged Mark 2 but with distinct exterior and luxury interior fittings.

The Daimler V8 engine was more compact making the 2.5 V8 saloon lighter than the Mark 2 so it had better fuel economy and handling. The 2.5 V8 saloon was the first Jaguar designed car to have the Daimler badge and the last Daimler car to have a Daimler engine.
