If you have (or have had) a problem with the starter motor on your Jaguar X-Type you’ve probably got a problem with your Dual Mass Flywheel.
How’s this you ask?
The magnets in the starter motor attract the metal dust from the Dual Mass Flywheel as it wears. Normally the first signs of this are starter motor failure. You may also hear a rattle from the bell-housing of the gearbox if you ‘bleep’ the throttle open.
Replacing the starter motor is only part of the answer and will probably last just 3 months before it fails again (this would not be covered by starter motor warranty).
To do the job properly you should fit the Clutch (JDE4964), Flywheel (C2S27921) and Slave Cylinder (C2S19829).
