The Jaguar XF X250 was launched in 2008 as a bold replacement for the S-Type, marking a dramatic shift in Jaguar's design language. With its sleek, contemporary styling by Ian Callum, the XF broke away from the retro-inspired look of previous Jaguars and introduced a more muscular, coupe-like profile to the executive saloon segment. The body is constructed from a combination of steel and aluminium, with aluminium doors, bonnet, and front wings keeping weight in check.
Engine options include a 2.2-litre four-cylinder diesel (from 2011), 3.0-litre V6 diesel producing up to 275 PS, a naturally aspirated 3.0-litre V6 petrol, and a supercharged 3.0-litre V6 with 340 PS. The range-topping XFR and XFR-S models feature a supercharged 5.0-litre V8 producing 510 PS and 550 PS respectively — the XFR-S being one of the fastest saloons Jaguar has ever built. Transmission is a ZF 6-speed automatic, with a revised 8-speed automatic introduced from the 2012 model year. Rear-wheel drive is standard across the range.
Inside, the XF introduced Jaguar's signature pulsing start button, rotating gear selector that rises from the centre console on start-up, and phosphor blue ambient lighting. The cabin features a driver-focused cockpit with wrap-around dashboard, dual-zone climate control, and available Bowers & Wilkins surround sound system. An estate variant, the XF Sportbrake, was added in 2012 offering increased practicality without compromising the XF's sporting character.
With a kerb weight of 1,695–1,890 kg and a sophisticated double-wishbone front and multi-link rear suspension setup, the XF X250 delivers a rewarding blend of agile handling and refined cruising ability. It remains one of the most popular Jaguars of the modern era, with strong demand for genuine, OEM, and aftermarket parts.
